The Korean Peninsula finds itself in a familiar but increasingly strange situation in 2026. South Korea is calling for a restoration of trust and the resumption of dialogue with North Korea. Pyongyang, however, is moving in the opposite direction, defining South Korea as a hostile state rather than a partner for dialogue and taking steps to sever relations.
