This weekend brought around 30 white nationalists and a thousand or so counterprotesters to Washington.
Welcome to a confluence of idiocy.
On both sides, ideological fanaticism was the most obvious marker of stupidity. On the white nationalist side, this was best summed up by one man who decided to walk around with a sign complaining about “Jews.” Determined to keep things simple, the neo-Nazis were matched by counterprotesters defined by communist revolutionary rhetoric.
Just went through a 34 photo slide show from the WaPo and there wasn’t a single sign about “overthrowing the system” or “America was never great” – so I decided to help them out cuz they seem to have missed those,

But while Neo-Nazis and communists are relatively equal in their moral defectiveness, it was the counterprotesters who deserved the most disdain for their activities on Sunday. Because while there were no apparent incidents of violence from the white nationalists, the counterprotesters engaged in numerous such acts. They threw bottles and flares at police officers and assaulted numerous journalists.

Believing in the fiction of their service as foot soldiers for a new order, the far-left also believe that those sworn to uphold democratic peace are evil. But we should grant no quarter to such delusion. Attacking the police and others, the counterprotesters showed antifa for what it is: a union of totalitarians veiled by the language of liberation.
It takes a lot to make neo-Nazis seem the more reasonable party at a political event. But on Sunday, as measured by actions, the counterprotesters accomplished that very ignominious feat.
