Byron York: 8 things to remember about Clinton-Trump debate

Published September 27, 2016 5:52pm ET

1) Don’t put any stock in quickie post-debate polls. Even if they were methodologically sound, the bigger problem is that those polled don’t really know what they think yet. People watch a debate, think about it, listen to commentators discuss it, and talk with family and friends. They’ll have more considered opinions in a few days.

2) On the two issues we know are most important to voters — jobs/economy and national security — Donald Trump did fairly well. The top issues came up early in the debate, when Trump was at his best, so it’s fair to say Trump was strongest on the biggest stuff.
