WHO: Anne Arundel Police
WHAT: Police said 22-year-old Eddie Woods committed suicide by shooting himself — in the back of the head — and let the crime’s only witness go without testing her for gunshot residue or questioning her extensively.

WHY IT’S A BAD IDEA: This sounds like some of the worst police work in recent memory. The witness even delayed calling 911 and the police weren’t even suspicious? Now the family of the dead man is having to petition police to open a homicide investigation. Please. That’s what they should have done in the first place.
WHERE TO VENT: Call the Anne Arundel police at 410-222-7000.

Please, pick my pocket! Maybe the holidays are making residents soft in the head, but it seems like a lot of people around town are ignoring the voice of their own common sense. Just because the economy is down does not mean thefts will also decrease. In fact, it’s probably the opposite. So why would people wander around with their cell phones pressed to their heads, not paying attention to their surroundings? Why are people texting while walking down city streets? If you want to avoid falling victim to a pickpocket — or something worse — then be aware of your surroundings.
