C-SPAN asked me to comment on a 1965 video by Detroit Mayor Jerome Cavanagh boosting Detroit’s bid for the Olympics.
I was an intern in the mayor’s office in 1967, the summer of the riot in which 40 people died, and have often written about Detroit’s travails and how they have moved me from liberal to conservative.
