More than 50 million K-12 students have now returned to in-person schooling. For many of them, it’s their first time back in a classroom in 18 months.

Unfortunately, they may soon be back at home. Nationwide, pediatric COVID-19 cases are higher than they’ve ever been. In Mississippi, where only 38% of people are fully vaccinated, the spread of the delta variant has forced the state to revert to hybrid learning. In one Florida school district, 10,000 students were put in quarantine last month alone.
