We must end payments that reward and encourage terrorism

Terrorist violence against civilians in Israel has been accelerating in recent years, amounting to what is now called the “Silent Intifada.” Perhaps it is called silent, because we are not paying enough attention.

Last year, this Intifada was characterized with a new name – the “Knife Intifada.” Earlier, Palestinian terrorists slaughtered Israelis and others — including American citizens – by blowing up restaurants or school buses, or using automatic weapons. Lately, the weapon of choice seem to be increasingly the knife. In some ways, the direct, face-to-face bloody slaughter of a teenager or a grandmother by a knife-wielding thug makes it even more personal and horrifying.
