Both the Republican and Democratic parties rely heavily on bankers — and revolving-door personnel — for fundraising. Usually the bankers cut the checks and quietly organize fundraisers with other financial types.
One banker behind Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fundraising machine is not so shy.
Barney Frank, House Financial Services Committee chairman-turned corporate banker, put his name on a DSCC fundraising email that went out Sunday night (text below), asking donors to “ruin” Mitch McConnell’s “mood” and ward off “the menacing alliance of right-wing radicals and narrow special interest groups.”
Frank, who ran the House Committee on Financial Services from 2007 through 2011, last week joined the board at NYC-based Signature Bank.
Here’s the text of the fundraising email signed by Frank at the Bank:

I am pretty sure we share a deep fear, [name].
It is that the most right-wing political party in American history will keep its grip on the U.S. Senate.
Fortunately, David, the DSCC is making huge progress in their effort to change this. But maintaining the momentum we need to win this crucial fight depends on our making a strong showing by Tuesday night, June 30. Will you pitch in?
Like it or not, in today’s world, the strength of campaigns is judged by how much they raise by the end of the quarter. I can guarantee you that no number will get Mitch McConnell’s attention more than the DSCC’s total.
David, will you pitch in to make sure we ruin his mood? Every gift made by June 30 will be matched.
This is a very important test of Democratic resolve to elect a Senate majority that serves the public interest, in place of the menacing alliance of right-wing radicals and narrow special interest groups now in control.
David, please help the DSCC reach its $500,000 goal and make Mitch McConnell’s reign not just an unhappy one, but a short one as well.
Thank you,
Barney Frank
