Marilinda Garcia, the Republican Millennial candidate running for U.S. Congress in New Hampshire, has taken the lead against incumbent Democratic Rep. Ann Kuster.
In a new poll from Manchester, N.H., ABC affiliate WMUR, Garcia has not only closed the gap between her and Kuster, but is now 4 points ahead – 41 percent to 37 percent among voters who are leaning toward one candidate over the other. Likely voters who say they have already made up their minds would still prefer Kuster, 36 percent to 34 percent, if the election were held today.
Voters remain split on how they feel about Garcia, with 24 percent approving of the 31-year-old candidate and 27 percent disapproving. While Kuster has a slightly higher favorability rating (28 percent) she has a much higher unfavorable rating, at 37 percent.
Of course, this poll could be an outlier, as every previous poll has shown Kuster ahead, including two recent polls from New England College showing the incumbent ahead by double digits.
Still, in a race that just a few months ago looked like an impossible GOP pickup, this recent poll may gave the party hope.
