Published

Sen. Mitt Romney recently eschewed Republican orthodoxy and proposed a bill that would establish a child allowance for most parents in the United States.

The proposal would give parents $350 per month per child aged 0 to 5 and $250 per month per child aged 6 to 17. It has a maximum benefit of $15,000 per year and a phaseout that begins at $200,000 for single filers and $400,000 for joint filers.
