As of this writing, it appears that Rep. Bob Good (R-VA), the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, will lose his primary to state Sen. John McGuire, who had the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.
With very few outstanding votes, McGuire leads Good by a razor-thin margin of less than 350 votes out of more than 62,000 cast. While it is still possible for Good to prevail, the odds are not in his favor at this point. And while McGuire is well poised to become the next representative of Virginia’s 5th Congressional District, the real winner in this saga is former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
