Vice President Kamala Harris’s propensity to lie has reached new heights after she told a large crowd that former President Donald Trump would terminate the Constitution. What Harris doesn’t realize is that these brazen misrepresentations of the truth ironically weaken her anti-Trump arguments by impairing her credibility. 

The lie stems from something Trump said on Truth Social in 2022 regarding his belief that the 2020 election was stolen. Trump wrote, “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.” Trump’s controversial remark requires context. He was claiming that the gravity of the 2020 election being purportedly stolen justified a termination of certain procedural elements of the Constitution. Though no doubt irresponsible, the single, random comment, so typical of Trump’s exaggerated way of emoting, hardly shows that Trump meant he would scrap the whole Constitution upon reelection in 2024. Harris conveniently removed all the context from the statement and exaggerated it beyond reason.
