After announcing via tweet that he would not be seeking reelection, President Joe Biden was wheeled in front of a camera to address the nation Wednesday night to explain why he dropped out of the race and, presumably, why he is remaining as president of the United States.

Biden, or at the very least, those controlling his teleprompter and/or morphine drip, tried to frame the speech as a final act of humility: Good ol’ Joe proving once and for all that he is but a humble public servant.
