Americans now lead the world when it comes to “transitioning” children. “Transitioning” is a euphemism for filling children with hormones, castrating the boys and cutting off the girls’ breasts, replacing their genitalia with manmade parodies such as a “neo-vagina” and a “neo-penis,” and then putting them on a lifelong diet of hormones in order to sustain this absurd medical fiction. Welcome to the United States of Mutilation.
The obligatory disclaimers: We are not talking about the minuscule minority who are born intersex. They deserve all the medical help they need or want. Nor are we talking about gender dysphoria, which is a real psychological condition. This is not about civil rights. It is about the grooming of children by social media, the corruption of government by Big Pharma, and the Democratic Party’s capture by the medical-industrial complex.
BIDEN THINKS IT’S MORALLY WRONG NOT TO FORCE GENDER TRANSITIONS ON CHILDREN
President Joe Biden believes that red-state efforts to ban this assault on children are “outrageous” and “moral and legal” attacks on “the basic fundamental rights of all human beings.” The president supports “every single solitary right” for transgender people, including the participation of male transsexuals (“trans women”) in female sports. Biden (pronouns: me, huh, c’mon man) made these remarks in an interview with Dylan Mulvaney, an actor who has transitioned from musical theater to TikTok stardom with his “Days of Girlhood” videos. It’s good to know the adults are back in charge.
Mulvaney has 8 million TikTok followers — and two testicles and a penis. He has logged over 200 days of girlhood so far, mostly doing high-camp parodies of ’50s womanhood. He calls vaginas “Barbie pouches” and demands that we “normalize the bulge.” He is a transvestite comedian, the Dame Edna Everage of the Zoomer Left. Asking him to come to the White House to discuss civil rights law is like asking Danny La Rue about the Laffer Curve because he wears a corset to work.
Mulvaney met Biden for NowThisNews, an online news channel owned by Vox Media. Calling Mulvaney’s interview with Biden a “presidential forum” fits NowThisNews’s history of posting fake and partisan content. Giving Mulvaney a sit-down with the president a week before the midterm elections reflects Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s call for the Democrats to “change the conversation” from inflation to the really important stuff, rallying the Zoomer vote.
The rest of the West is turning away from this madness. Then again, the rest of the West sees no medical basis for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recent recommendation that infants be given COVID-19 shots. Somehow, the superpermissive Swedes and the frolicking Finns now agree with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and all the other alleged “transphobes.” Even the mind-your-own-business British have all stopped giving puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to minors. It’s not just the obvious: If someone is too young to drive, smoke, marry, or vote, then they are too young to make an irreversible decision about their sexuality. It’s also that this reckless experimentation is wreaking irreversible misery on many of its victims.
In the same week that Biden went all-in on hormones and surgery, Britain’s National Health Service issued an advisory to family doctors. If a child claims to be trapped in the wrong body, the physician should tell the child it’s just “a transient phase.” The physician should also be “watchful” for a “broader range” of symptoms, including “autism,” “neurodisability,” and signs of mental illness.
In 2013, the Swedish child psychiatrist Sven Roman writes, Stockholm’s gender dysphoria center received 24 referrals. Between 2016 and 2018, the numbers rose to 197 and then 239: an eight- to tenfold increase. The increase in cases, especially among teenage girls, became “exponential” with the spread of social media and smartphones; 2016 was the year of Tiktok’s launch and Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, one of the first phones with a dual camera. Like the uptick in eating disorders and self-harm that Roman had treated in the 1990s, this is a social contagion, a mental health epidemic linked to heavy social media use.

In “at least 75 percent” of these cases, Roman writes, gender dysphoria appears alongside “autism, eating disorders, self-harm behavior and abuse.” Gender dysphoria should be treated as “secondary to psychiatric conditions for which there is evidence-based treatment.” Instead, governments across the West have taken their cue from recent experiments in pharmaceuticals and cosmetic surgery. Politicians have competed to signal their virtue by praising mentally ill children as heroines of civil rights. Most of the media have cheered along. They are now selectively muting the experience of the growing and tragic ranks of the “detransitioners” who took a one-way ticket and now cannot return.
Roman calls Sweden’s experience its “biggest healthcare scandal ever.” We hear similar language in Britain. What we are hearing from the president of the U.S. demonstrates a systemic failure to maintain the federal government’s independence from Big Trans — and a total abrogation of moral responsibility. As Taylor Swift (still a woman) says on her new album, “You’re on your own, kid. You always were.”
