Officer Ella French lost her life Saturday night. She was killed during a traffic stop in Chicago, and her partner was critically wounded.
It was the very same kind of traffic stop that some people think police should never draw their weapons on. The same kind of traffic stops the media like to portray as acts of racism. The same kind of traffic stops that the media often portray as not dangerous and risk-free.
Yet, as she sacrificed her life doing her best to serve and protect, one cannot help but ask the question, will French have a gold coffin?
Liberals, Democrats, and celebrities were all too quick to glorify George Floyd in death, a career criminal who resisted arrest and was killed in police custody. Floyd was treated like a hero and a martyr for black lives, laid to rest in a gold coffin. Boxer Floyd Mayweather paid for this coffin and funeral.
French, who served nearly four years in the high-crime neighborhoods of Chicago, couldn’t even warrant a tweet from Mayweather, let alone a gold coffin. French saved and protected more black lives than Floyd ever did, yet Mayweather will not be buying her a gold coffin. The hero gets nothing. The criminal gets treated like a hero.
President Joe Biden regarded the death of Floyd as a tragedy and stated, “We must do more to reduce the likelihood that tragedies like this will ever happen again.” Yet, the tragedy of officer French has been ignored by Biden. At the time of this publication, days after French’s killing, Biden has yet to comment on it. There have not been any statements. There have not been any tweets.
Vice President Kamala Harris was very outspoken in the days after Floyd died. She marched with protesters in Washington, D.C. She urged police reform. Harris, who tweeted on the same day supporting Jussie Smollett after the actor told police of the attack he had faked against himself, did not provide the deceased French or her family the same courtesy. Harris has said nothing about the killing of French. It’s probably a safe bet she will not urge any passing of bills about punishment for criminals who kill police officers.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated that Floyd “sacrificed his life for justice.” She knelt for nearly 9 minutes in Emancipation Hall at the U.S. Capitol to “honor George Floyd.” And yes, Floyd was murdered unjustly, but French legitimately sacrificed her life for others and for justice. Pelosi has not even acknowledged her existence.
It takes a pretty special person to get up in the morning and risk his or her life for total strangers. But as tragic as French’s death is, no one should be surprised by the vile lack of empathy by the elitist celebrities and Democrat politicians. Any sympathy or empathy they display is for show only and to score cheap political points. Biden, Harris, and Pelosi all talk about the importance of black lives, yet it was French who actually did the work to save them. As much as Biden, Harris, and Pelosi say black lives matter, they care very little about the people entrusted with protecting those very same black lives.
