This was to be the fallout from President Donald Trump’s imposed tariffs on Mexico and Canada. It was going to be the end of the world as we know it, and people in the country wouldn’t be able to afford guacamole for the Super Bowl. That was the messaging from Democrats, especially Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
