Ted Cruz urges John Boehner not to hike debt ceiling without ‘significant’ spending reforms

Sen. Ted Cruz called for House Speaker John Boehner to take up the debt ceiling fight that House Republicans seem leery of, saying that Congress should only raise the debt limit while making “significant” spending reforms.

“In my view, we should not raise the debt ceiling without significant structural reforms to fix the problem to stop the out-of-control spending,” the Texas Republican told a gaggle of reporters after his speech at the Heritage Foundation on energy policy.
