I now recognize that our behavior grievously injured the judicial process. I will live out my days with the painful knowledge that our acts tarnished all of the good work we did.”

Dim Bulb

Hot air

Who: Prince Charles

What: The heir to the British throne said at a conference in Japan that the “climate crunch” is more important than the credit crunch now afflicting the international financial system.

Why it’s dim: Prince Charles wants “nothing less than an urgent, full-scale transformation to a low-carbon society” to combat global warning even though arctic ice caps are rapidly increasing 31.3 percent ahead of last year’s rate and AccuWeather forecasters predict a cold winter ahead.

Cure: God save the Queen.

Daily Outrage

Taking in the trash

Who: EPA administrator Stephen Johnson

What: The head of the Environmental Protection Agency went on a taxpayer-funded junket to the Holy Land, where he attended the Eco-Cities of the Mediterranean Forum 2008 at Ishtar and made stops to inspect landfills in Jordan and Israel.

Why it’s an outrage: Earlier this year, Johnson spent a quarter of a million dollars to take 11 EPA staffers on a two-week trip to Australia, courtesy of U.S. taxpayers.
