Federal government is on an unsustainable path

Congress is out of ideas on how to lower health care costs. It cannot write a sustainable health care plan until it stops ignoring the underlying issues of solvency. If our government is not sustainable, how can any plan it writes be sustainable?

Today our nation is heading toward insolvency. In fact, Congress is increasing our debt by more than $3 trillion between January 2009 and December 2010. As an ordinary American, I am concerned for the future of our nation unless we establish and strengthen the fundamentals of good government.

Voters should recognize that the congressional bills under consideration result in higher health care costs for patients, states and employers. We already spend more on health care per person than any other nation, yet Congress plans to drive up our costs by at least $829 billion.
