With President Trump having been fully exonerated by the Justice Department and special counsel Robert Muller, Democrats and liberals in the news media are going back to the same playbook they used to derail Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court: delay, delay, delay, and when all else fails, reject.
Knowing this, there’s absolutely no point in releasing the full Mueller report. They will never be satisfied. It will only give them new reasons to complain.
The investigation wasn’t thorough! There’s a cover-up! The report doesn’t say what it literally says!
The national media are already lying about the findings of the report as summarized by Attorney General William Barr. Yes, they say, Mueller found no collusion with Russia, but, ah-ha! It also says Mueller “does not exonerate” Trump on obstruction of justice!
Well, correct, the report says Mueller “does not exonerate” the president on the obstruction question, but if you keep reading, it says that Mueller simply deferred to his bosses on the issue. That would be Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversaw the special counsel and deemed there to be “insufficient evidence” to pursue any charges.
It’s not up to Mueller to exonerate or convict on anything, least of which on an issue he decided was above his pay grade.
The special counsel side show is effectively over, but Democrats aren’t satisfied and everyone could have seen that coming.
Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said immediately after Barr’s summary was released that there were “very concerning discrepancies and final decision making at the Justice Department” and therefore he planned on dragging Barr in front of the committee for a hearing. Of course.
This is the same thing they did to Brett Kavanaugh. They demanded an indefinite delay in his confirmation after Christine Blasey Ford surfaced with an unsubstantiated 30-year-old attempted rape accusation. After Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, nearly snapped his spine trying to accommodate Ford, yet more bogus allegations bubbled up, inspiring Democrats to call for — what else — more delays.
When Ford’s hearing was over, Democrats got the always worthless Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., since retired, to call for another delay! This time it was a week-long FBI investigation into Ford’s allegation.
And when that was complete, Democrats moved back to another trench, now claiming that the investigation they demanded had not been properly executed. All but one Democrat, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, voted against his confirmation.
The Justice Department shouldn’t bother releasing the full Mueller report. There is no satisfying Democrats.
