Young Americans for Liberty, a group that was born from Republican Rep. Ron Paul’s presidential campaign in 2008, is pushing back against the similarly named but older organization Young Americans for Freedom, which expelled Paul from its advisory board over the weekend.

YAL’s press release notes, as I did over the weekend, that Paul’s position on foreign intervention remains unchanged after decades in politics, and that YAF seems way out of line in expelling him now.

In the Paul supporters’ words:

Minutes after Ron Paul was announced the winner of the 2011 CPAC presidential straw poll, YAF’s Senior National Director Jordan Marks distributed a press release stating YAF is “more aligned with Obama” than Ron Paul. Read the entire press release here: http://tinyurl.com/4dlzgyf
…YAF’s press release was an attempt to attack Congressman Paul’s foreign policy positions – the same positions he held when he was awarded the Guardian of Freedom award, YAF’s top honor.
