WH: RNC chair ‘desperate for attention’

Republican National Committee chair Reince Priebus compared President Obama to the Costa Concordia captain who abandoned his ship and passengers because he is “desperate for attention,” according to the president’s spokesman.

“If you are so desperate for attention that you make an analogy that [former RNC chair] Michael Steele deems inappropriate, you know that you’ve probably gone too far,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said during today’s press briefing.

Priebus made his comments on CBS’ Face the Nation. “I called him Captain Schettino, you know, the captain that fled the ship in Italy,” the RNC chair said. “That’s our own president, who is fleeing the American people and not doing his job and running around the country and campaigning.”
