The Obama campaign announces that aged rocker Bruce Springsteen will campaign for Obama in Ohio together with the president’s “defender-in-chief” former President Bill Clinton.
“They’re going to have the big dog and the boss tour,” explained NBC’s Tom Brokaw on Meet the Press yesterday, suggesting that it was an effort to block Romney in Ohio.
The rally will take place Thursday in Parma, Ohio, shortly after the president’s second debate on Tuesday.
Springsteen also campaigned for John Kerry at the end of October in 2004 and for Obama in Ohio in November 2008.
In July, Springsteen told the New Yorker that he only felt the need to go on the trail “because things were so dire.”
“It seemed like if I was ever going to spend whatever small political capital I had, that was the moment to do so,” he explained. “But that capital diminishes the more often you do it. While I’m not saying never, and I still like to support the President, you know, it’s something I didn’t do for a long time, and I don’t have plans to be out there every time.”
