White House Press Secretary Jay Carney retracted his suggestion yesterday that Newt Gingrich “is lying” when he says that a change in energy policy could lower gas prices to $2.50 a gallon.

“I shouldn’t have gone to motivations,” Carney told reporters during the press briefing. “I should have asaid that anybody who said that doesnt know what he’s talking about.”
