Earlier today, most people wondered whether party switching Rep. Parker Griffith, R-Ala., would be able to avoid a runoff. But at this point, the question is whether he’ll be fortunate enough to make it to a runoff.
With 82 percent of the vote counted, Griffith is trailing badly. His top opponent, Mo Brooks, is hovering just above 50 percent of the vote and may well win the nomination tonight. Results are here.
Another question: Can Martha Roby, the NRCC’s preferred candidate to face Rep. Bobby Bright, D-Ala., finish above 50 percent tonight? With just over half the vote counted, she is still falling short as of quarter to eleven.
Despite polls that had suggested he was strong, Rep. Artur Davis is getting pummelled in his gubernatorial primary with half of the vote in. The Republican primary is a three-way barn burner.
And of course, the one everyone’s been waiting for: Ag commissioner. Sorry, but Dale Peterson is trailing, although there are still plenty of votes to count. Still worth watching that ad again.
