Mitt Romney endorsed TARP just now. He said he opposes the bailout of shareholders, but he essentially endorsed precisely what Secretary Hank Paulson did on the grounds that it supposedly prevented systemic collapse.
Moments later, Herman Cain said he agreed, and also backed at least the concept of TARP, if not its implementation.

He also said he opposed the auto bailout because TARP was the wrong source for the funds. In fact, it took some sleight of hand to use the TARP money for this purpose. Does that mean he would have done it with another source of funds? It sure sounded that way.
