In addition to its Nevada poll, Rasmussen has released two others of the governor races in Illinois and California. Both are important because Republican victories could deny Democrats control over the Congressional redistricting process in both states.
In Illinois, incumbent Gov. Pat Quinn, D, looks like he’s joined the Corzine Club, living permanently in the mid-30s and down by 11 points. In Illinois, a deadlocked redistricting process goes to a non-partisan commission. A commission deadlock is broken by drawing from a hat.
In California, the race is shaping up to be a barn-burner. Jerry Brown leads Meg Whitman, 45-44. In California, a deadlocked process means that legislators will have to make a compromise with the governor — that is, unless voters take away legislators’ power over drawing Congressional Districts this fall and give it to a non-partisan commission.
