Former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass., largely dismissed questions about animosity between himself and Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, in an interview with Bill O’Reilly last night, reiterating instead the importance of a Republican beating President Obama.
When asked about Republican candidates “ganging up” on Perry in the last debate, Romney acknowledged Perry’s recent surge since entering the presidential race:
“Rick is new on the stage and gets a chance to explain his views and ff he does that well, why, he’ll continue to have strong support, and if he doesn’t, why, he’ll lose it.
When asked about personal conflict between he and Perry, Romney took the high road and attacked Obama:
“We’re big guys, Rick Perry and me, we understand that sometimes we’ll step on each other’s toes. Look at us, we’re all going after one another. Are there ever any points of friction between us? Of course! That’s the nature of a political battle, but we all agree that one of us has got to replace Barack Obama and that he would be an absolute disaster to be president for another five years.
