President Obama’s campaign warned supporters that there is an urgent need to donate against Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney.

“We can’t wait until their primary ends to start protecting everything we’ve worked for,” campaign manager Jim Messina wrote today. “This week Mitt Romney announced a joint fundraising project with the Republican National Committee and Republican state parties, which means that Romney’s donors can now give 15 times more than they could before to defeat Barack Obama.”
The alarm at Romney’s donors is kind of funny, given that Obama has been holding joint fundraisers with the Democratic National Committee the whole election cycle. Last night, for instance, “the president brought in $1,425,000” in campaign donations, according to estimates from the pool reporter.
