That’s right. And while they’re at it, they should ban Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann too. Let them hold their own political rallies instead of hijacking the Tea Party for political purposes.
Sure, if they want to show up to a Tea Party rally holding a “no more spending” sign, let them in, but two instances today remind me why Tea Partiers should avoid politicians like the plague.

1) A Tea Party rally in Iowa is beset by chaos as controversial former Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell accepted a invitation to speak at the event. Yesterday, organizers ‘un-invited’ her, which added to the confusion, and then reinvited her. Now Tea Party of America President Ken Crow says he “had to cancel” O’Donnell to get Palin to attend, and Scott Conroy reports that Palin’s commitment is ‘on hold.’
“The primary concern of the governor is the people that are coming to this event,” a source close to Palin said. “The planners are an issue that’s gotten in the way.”
2) Activist group FreedomWorks plans to protest Mitt Romney’s attendance at a Tea Party rally, suggesting that he is not an authentic believer.
Now organizers are struggling to maintain their authenticity.
“We have to defend our brand against poseurs,” said Freedomworks organizer Brendan Steinhauser.
“The truth of the matter is you’ve got a couple old cowboys running a Tea Party and we’re not professional politicians,” Tea Party of America President Ken Crowe said to RCP. “I’m way green.”
Back in 2009, the Chicago Tea Party publicly rejected RNC chairman Michael Steele for asking them how to participate in the event.
If Tea Party organizers want to maintain authenticity, they should follow suit by sending politicians packing.
