Gov. Scott Walker, in a Thursday telephone interview with the Washington Examiner, said he did not plan on endorsing any candidate before Wisconsin’s April 3rd Republican Presidential primary.

Walker, who faces a likely recall election by June, said, “I’m not focused on anything other than the recall, just because that alone keeps me pretty occupied.”

He also dismissed the idea that an extended presidential primary would hurt the GOP’s chances in November.

“I’m of the camp that thinks that a good, healthy primary season is not a bad thing,” Walker said. “I think it’s good. I think being able to spend more time with the voters, spend more time listening, spend more time responding and focusing with a clear message because of that interaction with the voters be it through the debates, through campaign events, be it through other things like that, I think is generally a good thing.”

He continued, “Having gone through primaries myself as a candidate, you never feel that way when you’re in the middle of it. You always like to have it done and be the nominee, but in the end, I think you build — not just exposure in terms of media exposure and name ID – but also the ability to spend more time in direct contact with voters to hone and refine and focus that message. Those are all good things.”

More to come from the interview.
