In an interview on The Brody File, Newt Gingrich was asked why he seemed to connect so well with Evangelicals in the Republican primary elections. Gingrich answered that part of it was because of his personal passion and also his willingness to admit his past personal failures.

“I have confessed my weaknesses and have had to go to God to for forgiveness and reconciliation.” said Gingrich, adding that “most people can identify,” with his imperfect human errors.

“In that sense it may make me more normal than someone who wanders around seeming perfect, and maybe not understanding the human condition and accepting the challenges of life.” Gingrich said.
