Newt Gingrich will hold a town-hall style rally at 7:30 pm tonight at the Key Bridge Marriott as a last ditch effort to collect signatures in Virginia before the Dec. 22 deadline.
To be listed on the primary ballot in Virginia, candidates need to turn in 10,000 signatures from across the state, with a minimum of 400 from each congressional district. However, most campaigns strive to turn in 15,000 signatures, with 700 from each district. If a candidate meets that threshold, the state will not check the validity of the signatures (although challenges can be made by third parties).
