With a few precincts still outstanding, Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser leads the union-backed JoAnne Kloppenburg by about 600 votes in his bid to stay in office.
Yesterday’s election was significant because it a Kloppenburg victory would put liberals back in charge of the state supreme court. The state’s public-sector unions spent big to mobilize, in advance of the challenge to Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s bill, which limits state and local government workers’ unions’ collective bargaining privileges.
