Newt Gingrich is still upset that the media reported on his Mediterranean cruise to Greece during his campaign.
“Calista and I were on a trip in June on a trip that the news media didn’t understand at all,” said Newt Gingrich this afternoon calling it a “very important trip for us.”

Gingrich said he visited a German friend of his who owns a beach bar on the to the Island of Mykonos, who shared important insights about what was wrong with the country.
Gingrich said that under Obama, America was propping up the Germans who were in turn propping up the Greek economy so that they could buy their exports.
“The problem with that was that it required the Southern Europeans to become German, and no one in Greece was interested.” Gingrich said, generating a few laughs in the crowd.
“No one wants to face reality,” said Gingrich, “We’re in a New World.”
Gingrich suffered ridicule from the media for embarking on the weeklong cruise which took him through the Greek islands aboard the Seabourn Odyssey.
