Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday called for a “deportation force” tasked with sending immigrants who are in the United States illegally back to their native countries.
During an appearance on “Morning Joe” on the day after a Republican presidential debate in which immigration was a major topic, host Mika Brzezinski pressed Trump on how, logistically, he was going to deal with the issue of the millions of illegal immigrants who are already in the country.

“You’re going to have a deportation force,” he said. “And you’re going to do it humanely and … frankly, because you have some excellent people, some wonderful fantastic people who have been here for a long period of time.”
He said those who were deported would be allowed to re-enter the country legally.
He went on to tout his plan to build a “Trump wall” to block individuals from entering the country illegally.
“It costs us $200 billion a year for illegal immigration right now,” he said. “$200 billion a year. Maybe 250, maybe 300 — they don’t even know. We’re going to stop it.”
Asked how the deportation would work in practice, Trump said, “They’re going back where they came. If they came from a certain country, they’re going to be brought back to that country. That’s the way it’s supposed to be. Now, they can come back, but they have to come back legally.
The Washington Free Beacon has posted video of the exchange.
