Liberal activists twist poll data to spread falsehoods about ‘LGBTQ’ voters hating Trump

Wow: 93% of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people disapprove of President Trump! And 90% support the impeachment of the supposed evil ‘anti-LGBTQ’ villain.

Or at least, that’s what LGBT Inc., the activist class and lobby, is claiming, based on the results of a new YouGov/Out Magazine survey into the 2020 election.

The left-wing activist organization Human Rights Campaign, essentially an arm of the Democratic Party, put out a press release touting the poll’s results, declaring that “LGBTQ Voters Strongly Condemn Trump.” It highlighted selected figures from the survey and concluded, “One thing is clear, while LGBTQ people are diverse in race, identity and opinion, they are unified in opposition to the Trump-Pence administration.” Similarly, Out Magazine touted its “exclusive”: “Warren Leads Among LGBTQ+ Voters in First-of-Its-Kind Poll.”

It’s too bad almost everything they’re claiming about this poll is false. Or maybe it isn’t too bad, because it’s actually pretty hilarious.

The people at HRC and Out clearly never took Statistics 101. And if they don’t struggle with reading comprehension, then they are evidently too lazy to read their survey’s fine print.

Unlike these left-wing activists, who evidently skipped over the “methodology” section of the poll (which, turns out, is kinda important), I noticed that it included this tidbit: “This survey is based on 816 interviews conducted by YouGov on the internet of registered LGBTQ voters likely to vote in the Democratic presidential primary in 2020.” The emphasis, I should note, is mine, because a lot of other people publishing these results didn’t even read it, let alone emphasize it.

So to be clear, this poll only surveyed Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents. And even then, “likely primary voters” tend to be a distinctly more extreme pool than general election Democrats. I’d imagine this known statistical phenomenon doesn’t vary with sexual orientation, meaning that moderate gay Democrats are being excluded, too.

This means that LGBT, Inc. is taking poll results of the furthest left-wing members of the gay and transgender communities and declaring them representative of gay and transgender people.

But sadly for the folks at HRC, not all gay and transgender people are Democrats. For them to take a poll surveying only the most active Democratic members of the gay and transgender communities and then apply it to all of us isn’t just factually wrong — it’s deliberately dishonest. It’s yet another attempt to erase gay people who don’t think what LGBT Inc. has declared we’re supposed to think.

I would not have been counted in or selected to participate in this survey, seeing as I am most certainly not a “likely Democratic primary voter.” That doesn’t make me any less gay or my opinions any less valid than the homosexuals that woke activists happen to agree with.

So, no, it’s not true that “97% of LGBTQ voters don’t approve of Trump” or that “90% of LGBTQ voters support impeachment.” This poll gives us insight into what Democratic primary voters who are gay and transgender think of the 2020 Democratic field. But beyond that, the only thing this poll actually shows about Trump is that Democrats don’t like him.

Wow. Groundbreaking! Shocking!

My guess is that Trump is not wildly popular among the gay and transgender communities. He got only about 15% of the “LGBTQ” vote in 2016, and I’d predict that support today is roughly at the same level. But no, it’s not going to be at the level you get in a survey of Democratic activists.

And what does it say that LGBT, Inc. activists have to distort polls and mislead about the rates at which their community supports the president? Maybe they’re starting to realize that, despite their frequent exaggerations and lies, Trump is pretty much a new kind of Republican on their issues, despite his ample other faults and shortcomings.
