Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will be in Paris tomorrow to attend the first ever raising of the Palestinian flag over a United Nations building, a move opposed by the United States.
“This is the first time that the flag [of Palestine] will be flown at the headquarters of a UN institution,” a Palestinian diplomat told Taiwan News. The flag will be raised above the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) headquarters in Paris.
The Tehran Times (Iran) reports that “a spokesperson for Abbas said he will also meet with French President Nicolas Sarkozy during his visit.”
