Tim Kaine: Reform “just good politics”

Big Daddy Kaine: I get the job done, baby (ap photo)

President Obama these days is all about how health care reform transcends politics and is just good policy. Whoops — DNC Chairman Tim Kaine came out of a private lunch with the POTUS and said reform is “going to be good politics for our members.” But never mind. Kaine went on MSNBC from the North Lawn (woot! shout-out!) to say Obama feels confident.

“This is an historic opportunity, we’re right at the edge of it and the president feels good that it’s great policy and it is also going to be good politics for our members… The Republicans now are all procedure.  They don’t want to have this battle on the substance because they’re wrong on the substance… The Republicans are going to play every procedural angle they can to protect the insurance companies and others, but we’re on the substance. We’re right on the substance and the president is making that case very plainly to these members of Congress. The speaker is also doing that heavy lifting right now and I think that’s going to carry the day.”

Wait — “we’re on the substance”?

Again, never mind.
