True blue Democratic states are supposedly the model Democrats want to impose on the country, but they are horribly mismanaged even at the state level.

Much is written of California and New York’s pathetic declines, overseen by governors with eyes on national politics and single-party legislatures that prefer cultural battles over keeping residents safe. Illinois the third-most populated Democratic state (Pennsylvania’s state House is almost perfectly split, and Republicans actually control the state Senate) is another example of how Democratic control ruins once-prestigious states.
