Well, the campaign industry seems to have weathered the recession pretty well. The Federal Election Commission reports today that Congressional campaigns have received $285 million in political donations. This statistic includes Republicans and Democrats in House and Senate races.
Campaign committees for 82 U.S. Senate candidates have taken in $103.1 million, while non-incumbents and 420 incumbents running in the U.S. House have received $182.1 million in donations.
