Bobby on the precipice (ap photo)
The Hotline today pokes around in the oil slick washing up in Louisiana and finds one guy who might actually benefit: Gov. Bobby Jindal. He’s been mostly shunned by his own party since that widely scorned, 2009 response to Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress. Say Reid Wilson and Jamie Shufflebarger of Jindal:
As he quietly contemplates a national bid, a leadership moment could provide him with a new chapter for his already-lengthy biography, one that could play a role if he does make a WH run.
And taking a high profile on the cleanup also puts Jindal in the politically advantageous position of criticizing the White House response to the disaster — an activity that is rapidly becoming a team sport for both parties.
