With Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison’s concession some ten minutes ago, Gov. Rick Perry (R) has avoided a runoff and been nominated to seek re-election. He appears set to finish with more than the 50 percent he needs to avoid a runoff. Hutchison is on track to take about 31 percent of the vote.
Meanwhile, former Houston Mayor Bill White won the Democratic primary, and easily. Evidently, Farouk was not on fire.
