A new poll released by Pew Research this morning reveals a seismic shift: younger Americans have swung toward the Republican Party at historic levels in the past two years. For a Democratic Party that relies on the youth vote as a foundational element of its coalition, these results are nothing less than a generational disaster.

In its 2023 version of the poll, 62% of men aged 18-29 identified as Democrats, with 36% identifying as Republicans. Fast forward to the 2025 version, however, and the landscape has dramatically altered: only 34% of this cohort now considers themselves Democrats, while 52% support Republicans. In total, this amounts to a staggering 28-point loss for Democrats and a 16-point gain for Republicans in a mere two years.
