The House Democrats have elected Nancy Pelosi minority leader in the 112th Congress by a vote of 150 to 43.

Pelosi defeated Rep. Heath Shuler of North Carolina, one of the moderate Democrats who questioned the wisdom of keeping Pelosi in a leadership position following the historic losses the party suffered in the Nov. 2 elections.
