SOTU Energy Preview: We heard it before

President Obama will have something to say tonight about achieving energy independence and developing clean, alternative energy resources.

We know this because every president since Tricky Dicky have addressed those topics in their State of the Union speeches. In other words, politicians in both parties have been energy promises for decades. The result? We’re twice as dependent on imported oil today as we were when Nixon first decided to “solve” the problem for us.
