If you’re unemployed…

Consider moving to North Dakota, where the cost of living is low, the jobs are plentiful, and entry-level workers at McDonalds can make $15 per hour.

In a free market, we’d see a lot more movement in the direction of a state with 0.7 unemployed workers for every job opening. Unfortunately, we are paying people to stay in places where there is no work.

North Dakota isn’t a national solution to unemployment, obviously, but there is no question that our government is mildly discouraging the kind of movement that would help fill an employment vacuum.
