Democrats like to call themselves the “party of science,” but as they have shown with the Equality Act, science is little more than a buzzword for them. It only matters when it provides a justification for policies they want. Otherwise, science is expendable.
The Equality Act would strip religious freedom protections while prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and “transgender status.” The latter point is one Democrats are pushing aggressively now, with the House of Representatives passing the Equality Act on the heels of President Biden ordering public schools to let biological men play in women’s sports.

Transgender people should be allowed to live their lives, obviously, but there is no science behind transgenderism that justifies it being forced on sports. No matter how often the American Civil Liberties Union asserts to the contrary, men have clear biological advantages over women, no matter what gender identity they choose. In strength, speed, muscle volume, and bone mass, biological men have the advantage over women, even after testosterone suppression.
Democrats’ all-or-nothing position on transgenderism was on display when Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul questioned Rachel Levine, Biden’s assistant secretary of health nominee. Levine, who is transgender, could not bring herself to condemn the idea of minors who think they are transgender being given hormone blockers to prevent them from going through puberty.
Of course, Levine couldn’t condemn that idea because she has made it clear she supports hormone blockers for children as soon as they begin undergoing puberty. And she is on the verge of serving in Biden’s administration, after likely being selected exclusively for being transgender, thanks to Biden’s self-imposed diversity quotas for nominees.
As Paul correctly noted, 80% to 95% of pre-puberty children who think they are transgender grow out of it “if not exposed to medical intervention and social affirmation.” De-transitioning is not an easy process, and there is nothing scientific or inclusive about altering the hormonal makeup of a child to change his or her life permanently just because they, at one point, claim to be of the opposite gender.
Democrats and transgender activists do not have much of an argument. They cannot square the idea that gender is something you “feel,” separate from biological sex, yet the solution is surgical mutilation and hormonal alteration. It is a rejection of genetics and biology, and they know this. But no one is allowed to say the truth out loud. Companies such as Amazon try to silence all dissent because to hear this transgender ideology contradicted is to know it is a lie.
Just as they do with abortion, nuclear energy, and school reopenings, Democrats ignore the science on the issue of transgenderism as they continue to impose their absurd gender politics on people. They will continue to label themselves the “party of science,” and their allies in establishment media will continue to pretend that is true, but this is a baseless conceit. Science always takes a backseat to the Democratic agenda.
