Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., sees Hispanics as “the next major civil rights movement” if the immigration reform he and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., are championing in the Senate fails in the House of Representatives.

Hispanic civil rights activists on the left might want to speak with Schumer about his prediction, especially those who came of age during the years when Caeser Chavez was leading striking United Farm Workers in California. Dolores Huerta and others on Huffpo’s Latino Voices pages would no doubt be happy to bring Schumer up to date.
