Almost three months after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, President Obama’s former campaign-turned-advocacy group is warning that the sequestration spending cuts could put elementary students in danger.

“Megan Allen is a fifth-grade teacher in Tampa, Florida. At her elementary school, 90 percent of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch,” Lindsay Siler, OFA’s National Director of Issue Campaigns, wrote in an email to Obama supporters. “For Megan’s 36 fifth graders, school is a safe place. The budget cuts known as the sequester could change that” (original emphasis). In the subject line, Siler denies that the email is “meant to scare” people.
